The Honorable Harvest
October 29–31 | Lopez Island
10/29: thursday 3pm
10/30: friday 9am-5pm
10/31: saturday 9am-3:30pm
I’m excited to be offering another Honorable Harvest course this fall!
This is an opportunity to come together and explore what it means to participate more fully in the cycle of life, death, and nourishment. Through the traditional skills of animal harvesting and processing, we’ll practice approaching our food with intention, gratitude, and respect.
Over our time together, we’ll move through the process of:
~ harvesting and butchering a local sheep
~ learning practical skills
~ hide tanning
~steam pit cooking and other forms of traditional cooking
~bone tools
Participants will have the opportunity to take home meat for their freezers.
Thursday evening: Gathering and introductions
Friday & Saturday: Harvesting, processing, and shared learning
Sliding scale: $225–$400
No prior experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and participate.
My hope is that this course offers not only practical skills, but also a deeper connection to the animals, the land, and the food that sustains us.
Space is limited.
